Westfield - Walk in the Park

Many thanks to all those who came to 'Walk the Park' and see the plans for the Westfield Community Garden on Saturday 7 March.  It was lovely to speak to local residents and show off the plans.   The garden is planned to be built on the derelict land next to the Co-op on Stiby Road.  Co-op have kindly given it's permission and the association has secured a grant towards the project.  Aside from ourselves, several local companies have come together on this project to work with the WCA; South Somerset District Council, Yarlington Housing, Boon Brown Architects, Yeovil College and Jones Builders.

Year 7 volunteers, Mrs Hooper (Head of Year 7) and members of the Westfield Community Association welcomed guests to the model in the Upper School at Westfield Academy and talked about the design. We look forward to watching it progress as a popular community space for all.  Year 7 students were busy making items for the 'to-scale' mock-up during the week before.  Several of these students are part of our Gardening Group, which are taking steps to keep on top of the jobs needed around our site.
