Students at Westfield Academy have secured excellent exam results once again this year

Commenting on his remarkable achievement of ten straight A* grades, Harry Stallard said "I'm really happy with my results. I'd like to study Law at University in the future but from here I am going on to Strode College to study Spanish, Chemistry, History and Law."

Chloe Duncan and Louis Davies will both be joining Harry at Strode. Chloe has chosen to study A Levels in Literature, History, Biology and Psychology and hopes to later progress on to University, whilst Louis has taken Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics; with a degree and career in Physics as the long term goal.

George Matthews and Emily Godfrey, both of whom gained four A* grades in their GCSE's, continuing their education at Huish. Emily has dreams of becoming a secondary school teacher after finishing her A Levels, with George also planning to continue on the University after completing A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Geography and Spanish.

With results in some subjects still to be confirmed, the percentage of students achieving C grades or better in core subjects are likely to be:

English: 71%

Maths: 67%

Biology: 66%

Chemistry: 68%

Physics: 66%

Commenting on the exam results, Principal Chris Hunt said, “Congratulations to all the students this year who worked so hard and really deserve the results they have achieved. On their behalf I would also like to thanks the very talented and dedicated team of staff who have worked so hard with them over the years. Staff and governors are very proud of the students and wish them all the very best with their studies and training beyond Westfield”. 

The first day of the academic year for students is 5 September – students will be very excited to see their new Sports Dome for the first time, with lessons due to start in the fabulous new facility later in the month. The school’s DT block is also receiving a £350,000 refurbishment whilst plans to build a bus bay later in the year are also well developed. 

Westfield Academy will be holding its annual open day and evening on Thursday 29 September, with tours at 9:00am and 11:15am, and the evening event starting at 7:00pm; further details will be available on the school’s website.
